May 2014–Project QUILTING Off Season Challenges: Can You Measure Up?

I don’t want you all to get uninspired during the Project QUILTING off-season…so here comes another challenge.

I was drawing a complete blank as of yesterday so I asked my fellow ‘Challenge Quilt’ members for some ideas! Before I knew it – I had LOTS of ideas!  Lucky you!

We’re going to start with the first idea…from Trisha Frankland…with a small tweak.double diamond

The Challenge:  Can You Measure Up?

Part 1.  Use a ruler/template/tool you already own - and that you've never used before to create a quilted project!

and/or

Part 2: Be insured by ‘measurement’ for your quilted project.

Because I don’t want someone to feel like they HAVE to go and buy a ruler/template/tool since for some crazy reason they don’t already have one…(but feel free to buy one if you want an excuse to).

In summary, you have three options for this challenge.

  1. Do Part 1.
  2. Do Part 2.
  3. Do both Part 1 and Part 2.

Rules:

  • Projects should be finished by Saturday, May 31st and added to the link up below.  Anytime is just fine…just as long as they’re submitted by the time the linky closes (which there’s a countdown on so you can check your time constraints).
  • This is purely just so we have a FINISH before we get moving on the June Off Season Challenge.   Not only is Project QUILTING meant to inspire you to make something you never thought you would – but it’s to help encourage you to FINISH the project too.
  • Have fun!

Prize for Off Season Project Quilting Challenges: (winner will be randomly drawn from a hat)
Marcia's Crafty Sewing & Quilting“Quilting Gift Certificate” for $30.00 off the Quilting on a Baby size quilt or larger. (Baby, Lap, Twin. Full, Queen, or King) from Marcia’s Crafty Sewing & Quilting.

The Gift Certificate will be good for 4 months starting one month after the challenge ends.  Excluding the Month of December for using the gift certificate.

The quilting gift certificate is transferable to another person, so you can share it with a friend, if you’d like.

Marcia will do an estimate based on the size of the winner's quilt top, quilting choices, thread choices, and batting and if they would like to purchase backing fabric from me. Winner can send backing fabric and batting with their quilt top, but I do have it available. This way the winner will have a good estimate of the value of your quilting prize.

Off Season Prizes

  • One of the most stressful parts of running a fun event on my blog for me is soliciting sponsors and prizes.  Off season means I don’t have to do that.
  • BUT if you want to donate anything to be randomly drawn for by participants in the challenge I’m happy to post about it and run the hat drawing.  If this is something you’re interested in…just email me at lapaceksorchard {at} gmail {dot} com.
