This giveaway is open to everyone!  It will close at the end of the day on Monday, April 6th and I’ll announce the winner on my blog on the 7th.  Please be sure to include your email address so I can get ahold of you if you win.  If I can’t you will be disqualified and I’ll choose a new winner.

  1. I find inspiration in science and math. I think of the geometry I want it to have. But most of the time I am following a pattern that someone else made that catches my fancy. So I'm more often the recipient of inspiration than the creator :D

  2. I find inspiration from blogs online, nature walks, and strangely enough reading descriptions in novels. Hugs and thanks, Julierose

  3. I find inspiration in lots of places -- nature, buildings, online, books and magazines, fabric, etc. And sometimes an idea just pops into my head from who knows where!

  6. It frequently starts with the duck quack from Missouri Star, followed by cheery Jenny slicing and dicing her way to the equally-cheery quilt hanging behind her. After discovering a long lost stack of fat quarters purchased at a quilt show months (or years) previous, I begin my own slicing and dicing. Sometimes, it is a picture in my mind and a pad of grid paper.
Other times, it is a one word prompt, like, I don’t know, TREES, and a baggie full of homeless hexes.

  8. My inspiration comes from the fabric I find. If it catches my eye, I usually get an idea about the type of pattern it's to be used for.

  9. I find inspiration in my travels! And in nature around me!

  10. I find inspiration all over the place. Sometimes it is outside at the beach watching the seagulls. Sometimes it is in the craft room staring at my fabric. And sometimes ideas pop in my head as I dream. I like to keep my eyes open to what is around me and let it go from there. Which is one of the reasons I love project quilting, so much freedom in the challenges to be inspired!

  13. While it's true that inspiration is all around me, I specifically and reliably find inspiration for quilts in tile floors and the external architecture of buildings.

  23. Congratulations! It's so awesome to hear from folks who are book contributors, especially about why and how they do the things they do. It gives the rest of us something to aspire to and encouragement to keep on doing what we love. :) I find that I get inspired by patterns the most - in books and magazines, on pintrest and blogs - but I often "see" them in different fabrics than presented on the pattern. My bee friends usually say "I'd never have thought of using those colors" or "How did you pick those fabrics?" which I take as a compliment!

  24. I find inspiration in color and texture. I might see a lovely texture (in nature) and that will be the start of an idea. Or I might see a color palette (almost anywhere!) that begins the process.

  25. I find inspiration almost anywhere:) Floor tiles, carpet in a hotel, you just have to have an open mind and a good memory or take a picture:)

  27. Everywhere...........but first I am inspired by the recipient and then by others like you.........maybe a block or an antique quilt or a fabric or your color choices speak to me. It is like seasoning a dish with herbs and spices, a little of bit of this and that and it comes together into a whole for me. Thank you for your part in my inspiration.

My dad loves a friendly game of poker, His quilt was made using fabric that had playing cards. My grand-girls received quilts with the "Frozen" sisters. My dearest friend received a quilt in her favorite colors with inspirational sayings that I embroidered.

  52. I have a LOT of fabric - much of it from my Mother's collection. ("FABLE" - Fabric Above and Beyond Life Expectancy). My goal is to use up this fabric so that I don't leave FABLE to MY daughters as their inheritance. So.. I am always looking on blogs and in books for ways to use the specific colors and quantities in my stash.
