Over the holiday’s I added quite a few new quilting books to my collection. I don’t know if you know this about me or not but I LOVE books! I know that there is a ton of free information online or you can get it on your kindle or whatever … but there’s nothing like having a book in your hand and paging through it for inspiration and learning. I also really like how they look all arranged neatly on a bookshelf.
Over the next few weeks I’m going to share with you the new books I’ve added to my collection and what I find coolest about them.
I’m going to start with Christa Watson’s (of Christa Quilts) new book Machine Quilting With Style: From Walking-foot Wonders to Free-motion Favorites . This book not only goes over machine quilting tips, tricks and designs but also shares with you patterns for twelve quilts! This book is also focused on quilting with your home sewing machine … so really for just about anyone! I love keeping quilting books right next to my Bernina while I’m quilting. I rarely do the same design over and over so it’s nice to have some inspiration right at my fingertips.
There are great illustrations to help you along the way to getting more comfortable free motion quilting. I cannot wait to use Christa’s ‘String of Pearls’ quilting on one of my quilts in the near future. I have a feeling it’s going to be one of my favorite ‘go to’ designs!
I can’t say enough about how clearly and precisely Christa explains things. There are a ton of diagrams and images that layout exactly what you need to do succesfully make your quilt. This book is going to be one of my go to reference books for a long time!
To make things even cooler – Christa’s second book is already available for pre-order! She’s teaming up with Angela Walter’s this time for the book - The Ultimate Guide to Machine Quilting: Long-arm and Sit-down - Learn When, Where, Why, and How to Finish Your Quilts! I have no doubt that this will be amazing too!
